The Concept

The OpernTurm, with 40 different façade types, has an unusually large façade variety.

Approx. 20% energy savings are achieved due to the use of high performance glazing, the high percentage of natural stone and façade projections. In addition, there are 60 different door systems including three oversized fully automatic revolving doors and vertically pivoted windows.

The entrance façade comprises of a tensioned steel frame system (RHS profiles).

HEIGHT

170 m / 558 ft

42 stories tall

From a height of 120 m (394 ft) radio wave absorbing glazing has been used due to the proximity to Frankfurt Airport. On the 21st and 42nd floors a thermically broken steel stick system, called the sky garden, was executed as a special suspended steel supporting structure with large format fixed glazing with motor-driven top hung windows.
