The Concept

Standing over the Milan Porta Garibaldi railway station in the major real estate development areas of Garibaldi Repubblica and Porta Nuova, the two towers inevitably turn heads with their architectural elegance. Built in the mid-1980s, both towers were used for service industries and office space and both showed signs of significant wear in the materials used for construction at that time, in particular the external casings.

The two towers underwent a complete renovation of the envelope that dramatically increased their sustainability and exterior aspect. The overall architectural envelope includes a 25,000 sqm (269,000 sq ft) surface area, 10,000 sqm  (107,600 sq ft) of which was built using a compact double skin Interactive Wall®. Architectural requirements dictated the unusual geometry of the external skin on the main façade, giving the two, practically identical towers an undeniably innovative look.
