The Concept

At 4 Cannon Street, opposite St. Paul's Cathedral in London, a new light-flooded seven-story office building with roof garden has been built on a ground space of 40 x 55 m (131 x 180 ft). Due to its proximity to the cathedral, the height was limited to 25 m (82 ft). Visitors of the large roof terrace can profit from spectacular views of St. Paul's Cathedral and the City.

Aluminum-cladded canopy, manually operated sliding doors in the roof area, 1.5 m (5 ft) wide, 2.2 m (7 ft) high. The 6 m (20 ft) wide four-leaf sliding door system can be opened telescopically on a rail up to a width of 4.5 m (15 ft). The technical areas on the roof have been clad with acoustic fins for noise reduction. Above the top office floor, a nearly horizontal roof glazing with triple insulating glass and lateral rain gutter has been installed. In the roof area, along the north side and the adjacent north-east and north-west corners of the building a 70 m (230 ft) long projecting canopy has been installed which is clad with sandstone soffits.
