The Concept

The Project - a partnership between The HK Jockey Club and the HK Special Administrative Region - aims to transform the Central Police Station compound, a unique cluster of historically significant buildings, into a vibrant center for heritage, arts and leisure. Two new buildings were added, each with a unique façade consisting of aluminum bricks inspired by the site’s historic brickwork, specially developed for this project and manufactured using recycled vehicle wheels in Australia. The desired effect could only be achieved with a surface finish in ECOstainless steel which was developed in cooperation with the Design Architect.

The Project
Scope of Work

8,310 sqm (89,500 sq ft) of large unitized façade with aluminum castings, 266 sqm (2,900 sq ft) of large glass façade, 250 sqm (2,700 sq ft) of aluminum cladding, 1,635 sqm (17,600 sq ft) of cladding with special 3D ceiling panels, 1,188 sqm (12,800 sq ft) of grilles, 406 sqm (4,370 sq ft) of roof light, 418 sqm (4,500 sq ft) of openable windows, fire-rated windows and 110 sqm (1,180 sq ft) of balustrades with metal mesh and mobile platforms for the roof.
