Wilshire Grand Center

Los Angeles, CA, USA

The iconic Wilshire Grand Center in downtown Los Angeles is the tallest building in the city, towering to a height of 336m.

The tower was the vision of Korean Airlines – LA is home to the largest Korean population outside Seoul and the building is a symbol of the friendship between the USA and South Korea. The multi-use building contains a hotel, as well as retail, restaurant and business spaces, offering a ‘city in the sky’ for visitors.

The project

The concept

The podium includes convention spaces, ballrooms and meeting rooms, as well as a health club, retail spaces and restaurants. There are five levels of underground parking. Bridging the 73-storey tower and its solid podium base, a double-curved skylight atrium extends into the heart of the building.

What did we do?

We designed, engineered, manufactured and installed the astonishing glass façade for the tower, including its sail-like glass crown. Floor-to-ceiling glass panels maximise the views from the tower. We integrated all linear accent lighting into the glazing panels, pre-installing fixtures at our facility before delivery. This unitised approach minimised staging time on site and allowed for smooth installation.
