Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

London, UK

The new Tottenham Hotspur stadium – with a 62,000-seat capacity – has the world’s first dividing, retractable multi-use football pitch, which can change into an artificial surface to stage NFL, boxing, rugby and concerts.

The new stadium was built on the same site as the previous building, which was demolished in 2017. The updated bowl structure ensures spectators are closer to the pitch than at any other comparable UK ground, with uninterrupted views for everyone. It is also powered by 100% renewable energy, making it one of the most efficient stadiums on the globe.

The project

The concept

The asymmetrical design of the nine-storey stadium is focused on the fan wall in the south – which is the heart of the building. Steel-and-glass façades create a highly transparent and weatherproof interior skin, and an elegant second skin, made of variably perforated sheets, wraps around the entire stadium. At the southern end, the glass façade cambers upwards and unveils the south stand with its ‘wall of noise’.

What did we do?

We designed, engineered, manufactured and installed a total of 34,800 sqm of façade, comprised of 18,900 sqm of steel-and-glass façade, 14,300 sqm of perforated sheets, plus 1,595 sqm of steel-and-glass stick-system façade.
