The Lantern is a seven-storey, mixed-use development in the London Borough of Camden that underwent extensive internal and external renovation in 2022.

The building is named after the feature corner ‘Lantern’ – a three-dimensional, diamond-shaped folded steel and glass construction. The refurbishment work was carried out with a strong focus on sustainability and wellbeing, with clear glass screens contributing to a light-filled interior. The renovated building includes BREEAM Excellent rated offices, retail spaces, residential homes and public areas.

The project

The concept

The commercial section of the building is mostly composed of brick curtain wall panels, while the residential part features balconies with natural stone cladding, GFRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete) soffits and sliding doors. In addition to the corner ‘Lantern’, the building incorporates a large, bespoke steel, glass and timber atrium with a sloped roof.

What did we do?

Our team designed, engineered, manufactured and installed 7,400 sqm of new unitised façade for both the commercial and residential parts of the building. In addition, we supplied 250 sqm of bespoke steel, glass and timber façade for the atrium, and 900 sqm of glass internal screens.
