Samsung Semiconductor Headquarters

Samsung Semiconductor Headquarters is a 1.1 million square foot, 10-storey building in the heart of Silicon Valley that opened in 2015.

The building was designed to be open and welcoming, encouraging colleagues to communicate and collaborate. Features include fitness facilities, courtyards and cafes – some of which are open to the public – and an energy-efficient design.

The project

The concept

The building’s design ensures that employees are never more than one floor away from green space. It also incorporates a track and fitness facility, alongside outside meeting spaces. The façade was created to reduce solar heat gain, with floor-to-ceiling glass that optimises daylight while shading people from direct sunlight.

What did we do?

We designed, engineered, manufactured and installed 79,248 sqm of custom unitised curtain wall featuring eight different wall types. Custom features of the building envelope include an inner courtyard façade that spans two storeys with no slab attachment, and horizontal aluminium sunscreens that are incorporated into the various wall types.
