One Vanderbilt

New York, NY, USA

One Vanderbilt, which soars to a height of 427m, has redefined the Manhattan skyline since it opened in 2020.

It is currently New York’s fourth-tallest building and has been described as the city’s prime office property thanks to its location, design and amenities. At the top of the tower sits SUMMIT One Vanderbilt – an observation deck featuring enclosed glass balconies, green space and panoramic views.

The project

The concept

The iconic design for One Vanderbilt features four interlocking, tapering planes that spiral towards the sky. The façade includes vision panels equipped with glass reaching to almost 6.7m on the executive floors, and ventilated spandrel panels clad in terracotta tiles.

What did we do?

We designed, manufactured, engineered and installed over 68,000 sqm of façade – a total of 8,743 unitised panels in 1,060 different configurations. This included 660 corner panels that were all unique, as the tower tapers from bottom to top. The concave terracotta tiles – almost 35,000 in number – reflect the sun during the day.
