Chanel Hong Kong International Airport - Permasteelisa Group

Chanel Hong Kong International Airport

Hong Kong, China

Chanel’s two-storey boutique at Hong Kong International Airport continued the brand’s long-term partnership with New York-based architect Peter Marino.

The store features a distinctive white façade punctuated with LED stripes, which creates a bold contrast with a black stone wall. A dramatic double-height interior includes a white marble staircase that complements the exterior.

The project

The concept

Chanel’s aim was to create a ‘bright, modern and sophisticated shopping environment’ at the airport. The façade draws inspiration from the brand’s signature elements, including tweed patterns and the use of a black and white palette.

What did we do?

We designed, engineered, supplied and installed the façade, which is made of angled white Neopariés – a glass-ceramic building material. Fine, needle-like crystals within the Neopariés gently reflect light, creating a smooth and luxurious finish. We positioned integrated LEDs between the façade’s angled shapes and placed them behind fire-rated glass to ensure compliance with the airport’s fire management strategy. To span the double-height entrance, we supplied a single piece of laminated low-iron extra-clear glass, measuring 2.8m x 7.4m.
