Battersea Power Station, Phase 3A, Prospect Place

London, UK

Phase 3A of the iconic Battersea Power Station redevelopment project by the River Thames in London involved the construction of a mixed-use development, including Prospect Place.

We are proud to have provided the façade for two of the Prospect Place buildings – the first two residential buildings designed by Frank Gehry in the UK. The buildings’ rippled white façades enclose luxury apartments, penthouses and townhouses, each with a terrace or winter garden, sitting above double-height retail and dining spaces.

The project

The concept

The Gehry façade was designed to take full advantage of the natural light through its undulating shape and large windows. The choice of white aluminium panels fills the common areas between the buildings with a warm light from the sun’s rays reflecting on the façade. The sinuous dynamism of the buildings is striking, creating interesting reflections and evoking the sails of ships.

What did we do?

We designed, engineered, manufactured and installed three main elements for the buildings: customised unitised glass façade units that create the internal walls of the cladding; the white surfaces; and unique spandrel panels. In total, we supplied around 27,200 sqm of complex 3D-shaped unitised façades.
