Arbor – Bankside Yards 3

London, UK

Arbor was the first building completed as part of the Bankside Yards development – the transformation of a lost area of the South Bank into London’s newest cultural neighbourhood.

The building provides a unique workplace that is surrounded by cultural areas, public spaces and top-class hospitality. Arbor’s wellbeing and sustainability-centred workspace operates at net-zero carbon and provides a hub for creativity, interaction and inspiration in the centre of the capital.

The project

The concept

Bankside Yards aims to be the first fossil-fuel-free mixed-use development in the UK. Our environmentally-friendly Closed Cavity Façade (CCF) technology was chosen to support this – providing a cost-effective way to achieve a bespoke, sustainable solution. The all-electric building is powered by renewable energy so it runs carbon neutral, and has been awarded BREEAM Excellent status.

What did we do?

We designed, manufactured and installed 15,750 sqm of tailor-made façade using our proprietary CCF system. The façade consists primarily of unitised curtain walling of 1.5 m x 3m modules, and features glass fins for the entrance lobby, an aluminium rain screen and roof system covers.
