21 Moorfields

London, UK

21 Moorfields is a major feat of engineering, constructed directly over complex underground train lines using a steel bridge structure.

The building, which sits above a new ticket hall for the Elizabeth Line, is the new headquarters for Deutsche Bank in the city. It incorporates four trading floors, a light-filled workspace and amenity floors, with west-facing terraces on six levels.

The project

The concept

21 Moorfields comprises two buildings connected at podium level and arranged around a green public square – the 80m high East Building and the smaller, three-storey high West Building.

What did we do?

We designed, engineered, manufactured and installed a total of 30 main façade types, including Closed Cavity Façade (CCF), steel-glass façades, unitised sheet metal façades, skylights, interior façades, balustrades, concrete façades (precast), soffit sheets, and around 80 doors of different designs. The standard façade unit sizes were approximately 1.5m x 4m and 3m x 4m, with the biggest panels as large as 3m x 8x. On the ground floor, a façade supported by glass blades features glass panes and glass blades up to 11m high.
