Final piece of the Sagrada Familia cross safely and successfully lifted into place
After 144 years of construction, Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudi’s masterpiece in the heart of Barcelona, is complete.
With the upper arm of the cross at the top of the highest tower now in place, Sagrada Familia becomes the tallest church in the world, soaring to a height of 172m.
Congratulations to the brilliant designers, engineers, fabrication specialists and installation experts from our Josef Gartner brand who helped to create the stunning cross. It has been a privilege to bring this extraordinary vision to life and contribute to such a historic moment.
As a team, we have watched the cross develop from concept to completion, taking shape in our facility in Gundelfingen, Germany, before being transported to Barcelona and lifted over 170m to be placed at the top of the highest tower of Sagrada Familia.
