This multi-level project is one of Europe’s largest mixed-use urban redevelopments, covering an area over 290,000 sqm (more than 3 million sq ft).

The Unicredit Tower consists of three glass-clad buildings – one of which is Italy’s tallest building – situated around a public piazza that links the buildings to their surroundings. The podiums of the towers are connected by a steel-ring canopy to form one single body, creating a grand gateway to the rest of the city.

The project

The concept

The most challenging part of the project was ensuring the three buildings communicated with each other and connected to other components in the masterplan – such as residences and parks. This was achieved through the building envelope, which consists of cladding that unifies the towers through mouldings and stringcourses that wrap around the curves.

What did we do?

We designed, engineered, manufactured and installed more than 70,000 sqm of curtain wall and complementary elements – including 48,000 sqm of curtain wall, 16,000 sqm of ventilated rain-screen stone cladding, 6,000m of horizontal sunshading fins, 5,000 sqm of stick system façade, 3,000 sqm of false ceiling, and 1,000m of stainless steel parapets.
