Opus

The lobed design includes 10 floors of glazed curved walls opening up onto balconies, emulating the petals of the Bauhinia orchid, the symbol of Hong Kong. Glazed surfaces are punctuated with straight opaque segments to provide privacy and sunshade. Each floor is at a slightly different angle to another, resulting in a spiral-shaped elevation.

We designed, manufactured, engineered and installed 7,000 sqm of custom façade and architectural elements. The curtain walls for each floor required one-off design and production of the panels, glass sliding doors, balustrades, handrails and windows. The huge glazed doors, never before manufactured, were produced in-house to the highest standards of water and wind resistance. External steel structural columns are clad in panels of curved transparent glass, connected by custom-made brackets. Other elements provided included skylights, straight and curved balustrades, box windows, shingle wall cladding, a roof canopy and podium areas.
