Jardine House

Hong Kong, China

Jardine House in Hong Kong – formerly known as the Connaught Center – was the tallest skyscraper in Asia at the time of its completion in 1973, and was Gartner’s first project in the region.

The building features a unique metal façade characterised by porthole-shaped windows that are inspired by the city’s nautical history and the building’s waterfront site with views of the harbour.

Brand: Gartner

Architect: Palmer & Turner

Client: The Hongkong Land Company

The project

The concept

The building itself is a reinforced concrete box, with most of the structural frame on the edges of the building, allowing the interior to be column-free. Due to the external structural load, the windows needed relatively small openings.

What did we do?

We clad the 1 Connaught Place office building with 4mm thick aluminium panels, including rounded window openings and conical soffits, roof cladding, podium soffits, and ground floor columns cladding.
