The 36-storey Deutsche Bank Twin Towers stand as a symbol of Germany’s financial centre and a Frankfurt landmark.

Originally completed in 1984, Deutsche Bank embarked on an ambitious renovation project to make the new towers one of the most high-quality working environments and eco-friendly high-rise buildings in the world. The newly renovated towers reopened in 2011.

The project

The concept

Deutsche Bank wanted to replace the towers’ entire climate, water and lighting technology to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the building. The new breathing façade consists of individual units, every second of which is a vent window that can be opened, even in strong winds and at heights of 150m. A cold façade has been built around the individual units.

What did we do?

We designed, manufactured, engineered and installed a new breathing façade for both towers (40,000 sqm) and the buildings’ podium (11,000 sqm). The refurbished curtain wall provides superior energy and ecological features, whilst maintaining the original external aesthetics.
