City Life Hadid Residences

City Life is a residential, commercial and business district redevelopment project on the site of Milan’s former exhibition centre.

The largest car-free area in Milan, City Life includes 170,000 sqm of dedicated green space, with buildings using alternative energy sources such as ground water, district heating, and photovoltaics.

The development comprises 230 prestigious residential units, ranging from one-bedroom apartments to penthouses, framed by a continuous path around two land areas. A range of indoor and outdoor spaces are provided, reflecting the urban landscape and the beauty of the park below.

The project

The concept

A key feature of the project is the continuous curved line of the roofing profile and balconies. This characterises the residencies and defines the fluidity of the glass, wood and composite façade, reflecting the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

What did we do?

We designed, engineered, manufactured and installed 30,000 sqm of glass façade and 12,300 sqm of parapet cladding. More than two million components came together in a puzzle-style effect – 60% of the pieces had their own unique code, making them one of a kind.
