Maintenance, repairs and upgrades

An essential first step in façade refurbishment, façade care tackles wear and tear before it becomes a liability. Our global FaçadeCare teams guarantee façade life extension and long-term safety, preserving a building’s value and enhancing environmental performance.

 

Using vertical access and rope access we perform building façade maintenance and building envelope repair at any height. Our services, underpinned by rigorous design and engineering calculations, include:

Inspection and survey: Technical consultations and performance testing.
Cleaning: Specialist removal of pollutants to restore aesthetic value to any material.
Maintenance and minor repairs: Correction of defects and maintenance of elements like air infiltration.
Component replacement: Expert repair of glazing and façade materials, including GFRC.
Upgrades: Installation of energy-saving enhancements such as bespoke shading.

Reglazing and façade upgrades

Koningskade 4 in The Hague showcases a high-impact, curtain wall refurbishment strategy, delivering a sustainable transformation, without the need for rebuilding.

Through development and testing, our team developed a unique glazing profile for the building to facilitate a complete reglazing of the 6,000 sqm façade, upgrading the envelope from a single float glass to a modern, double-skin laminated façade.

Replacing the glass future-proofed the building’s safety and energy standards while preserving the historic integrity of the Netherlands’ original curtain wall building.

Through the strategic reuse of existing façade materials in other projects, the facade upgrade also embodies circular economy principles. 

Full façade replacement

We also offer extensive refurbishment interventions, including the complete strip-and-replace of an existing façade.

 

We recently carried out a façade overhaul for 334 Oxford Street, London. By retaining the existing substructure and steel frame, this landmark refurbishment significantly reduced embodied carbon while transforming the former flagship department store into a premium mixed-use destination for retail, dining, and commercial offices.

 

We replaced the original envelope with 11,750 sqm of energy-efficient glass façade engineered to maximise natural light and thermal efficiency, helping position the project for BREEAM Outstanding and NABERS 5* certifications.

 

Our high-performance system features unitised glazed panels, reeded glass spandrels, colourful vertical ‘baguette’ extrusions, a unitised pavilion and new entrances and winter gardens, creating a distinct new aesthetic.
