Unveiling 200 George Street

Unveiling 200 George Street

Situated in Australia’s leading business and cultural precinct in the heart of the City, the dual curvilinear forms of 200 George Street rise organically with the Sydney Skyline and showcase cutting-edge building technologies including a world first in kinetic façade design.

Automated timber blinds, combined with vertical timber shading elements and three layers of performance glazing, combine to create an advanced environmental skin using the Permasteelisa Group unique mfree-SCCF façade. This unique system adjusts to external factors and occupant preference. 200 George Street is a new breed of office building, rejecting the alienation of the cold metallic box in favour of a warm, more human form.

ArchiTel TV investigates 200 George Street Sydney and examines the challenging journey to create a unique façade for this building designed by the studio Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp in collaboration with Permasteelisa Group, Somfy and Accoya.

Andrew Vatiliotis, General Manager of Permasteelisa in Australia, together with architect Richard Francis-Jones and Alistair Grice of Somfy talk about overcoming the challenges of creating the building and its innovative façade.
